It is unfortunate some people don’t see anything good in Jonathan – Anenih

Board of Trustees chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Tony Anenih has begged leaders of the South-South states to support Jonathan in the governance of the country. Anenih who made the clarion call in a keynote address he delivered on Monday at the Southern Leaders Summit, held in Calabar, lamented that some Nigerians don't even see anything good in the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan. Speaking at the event, the party chieftain said the President cannot tackle the Boko Haram insurgents without the aid of southern states. He said, "The unity of this country is not negotiable. We must acknowledge the uncommon leadership the President has exhibited in the face of these challenges. "Unfortunately, some Nigerians do not see any good in the present administration. This perception must stop."
He added that, "The response to the National Conference Committee was quite remarkable; so also is the widespread pre-National Conference Dialogue that is going on among various groups across the country. "I commend President Goodluck Jonathan for his sagacity in giving Nigerians this golden platform to examine areas of concern about the Nigerian federation and find common solutions to those problems that have constituted a hindrance to our evolutionary journey to nationhood. "I am convinced that the National Conference will strengthen the bonds of unity, the fabric of our federalism and the pillars of our nationhood. The unity of this great nation is not negotiable." Anenih also lamented the inability of the states of the South to speak with one voice, saying the summit would provide a platform to identify common concerns. He said, "There is no doubt that there are many concerns, which we share and need to identify at a platform such as this. "Our northern counterparts have been known to work together as a united front. We, in the South, must also forge unity and cooperation among ourselves," he added.

Court Dissolves Pastor’s 5-year-old Marriage Over Infidelity

An Abeokuta Customary Court on Thursday dissolved a five- year-old marriage between Pastor Samuel Oniyide, 42, and his wife, Kabirat, saying it was obvious they no longer loved each other. The pastor had asked the court to dissolve the marriage, accusing his wife of disrespectfulness and infidelity; claims which the respondent denied. Despite the denial, however, the respondent consented to the dissolution of the marriage, saying she was tired of the union. Dissolving the marriage, the President of the Court, Olalekan Akande said it was obvious that love no longer existed between the couple. He, however, said that the welfare of the two female children of the couple was of importance to the court.
